It's been good fun catching up with, and hanging out with mum. I feel kinda guilty for not seeing her as much - I've spent far too long in Brisbane.

We headed down to Perisher Blue Sun/Mon for a couple days skiing... which was great fun until mum fell Mon and broke her wrist. Not cool.

I head back to Brisbane tomorrow and will spend Thu/Fri packing everything up and finalising stuff - licenses, banking and all that jazz. Then it's off to CANADA - woohoo! Am still trying to sort out catching up with Monique, looks like I might hire a car from Calgary and drive it down to Boise, Idaho, for a bit of a road trip (Monique will fly up from Houston). Bring it on!

CNNMoney.com has a great article entitled '50 people who matter'... it's quite a list and most of the people on it won't be of any big surprise to you. What is a better read is their '10 people who DON'T matter'.

This article highlights some individuals who may have made the list a few years ago - but haven't kept up with the times, or have simply gone backwards. The most interesting duo, isthe head of Sony (Ken Kutaragi) & the HD-DVD promotion dude (Warren Lieberfarb).

With neither of these two seem to remember the Betamax-VHS wars from 20 years ago, as they are now going head to head again in a battle for the new DVD market - which of course will only be bad news for consumers. But I reckon we're (the consumers) will end up having the last laugh: by the time the marketing, development and sales pitch has finished, most people will be able to download full length movies and TV shows from NetFlix and Apple, skipping the need to hoarde those little DVD discs altogether. Nice.

It's been a while since my last post - trust me, I have been rather busy. With the move to Canada rushing towards me like a train, I have had to sit down and ensure I have everything sorted. Flights, accommodation, clothing (it's gonna get cold over there!), potential road trip...

I've gone through my room and re-packed all my stuff, gotten rid of about half my clothes (which felt great!) and really tried to get everything ready cause I leave in less than a month.

Managed to have a good long weekend on top of all that though: dinner with friends Sat night, a few drinks in the valley, and then down to Movieworld on Monday with dad, Bev, Steve and Dal (well, when Dal finally realised he was in the wrong theme park!). I tell ya, that Superman ride is AWESOME - definitely try to get there and check it out. Photos from that and the rugby I went to a week or so ago will be online soon.

So I have made a decision. I am moving to Canada. Hopefully most of you will already know this, but I am sure there are many people I haven't yet told.

Yup, I fly out on the 8th July. Arrive Calgary 9th July - just in time for Stampede. Now that's not the reason I am moving to Canada... but it is a bonus. Should be a laugh.

I just figured that Brisbane, whilst good fun, is not where I want to be right now. I can come home at any time and settle down and live quietly - now is the time to see more of the world, and with a Canadian visa in my hands I might as well take advantage of it. Hurrah!

What an awesome trip - Vancouver, Calgary, Banff, Seattle & Las Vegas. It was so good in fact that it has inspired me to head back and work there for a year or so. So that's what I am doing now, sorting out things in Brisbane to get back over there - hopefully for mid July, just when Stampede starts in Calgary - the biggest rodeo on the planet! Cowgirls, here I come!

Ever drive past an empty spot somewhere on your way to work, then suddenly find a fully grown tree there the next day? Well it's all a fraud (as we've known for sometime)... they're cellular towers disguised (sometimes VERy badly) as trees! hilarious! http://fraudfrond.com/ has all the latest..

Well I guess all good things must come to an end (though I tend to disagree with that comment most of the time), so here I am back in Brisbane, back at work. Fun fun fun. Still it's not too bad, the weather is great, it's nice to see dad and have my own bed to sleep in - but it can't really compare with skiing down the slopes in Canada, or partying the night away in Las Vegas eh?

I guess that just means it's time to start planning my next trip. Nothing on the cards at the moment, though have tentative plans for skiing NZ in August, camping Fraser Island in July, and checking out Darwin/Ayers Rock in July. We shall see which one wins out.
